I am no hero. Yet I'd like to share my lifetime experiences. Through this book and presentations, I hope to affect as many people as possible. It's difficult for me to write about the past. Some people don't realize how hard it is for me to tell my story. I usually joke around--that's the way I am. It's the way I relax, because painful memories are always there. When the war broke out on September 1, 1939, I was only two years old. Consequently, I needed to depend upon my mom's recollections for many of the details provided in this memoir. Some of the events were so traumatic that even though I was a child then, they've engraved themselves on my consciousness.
