"Aiden Goes to Speech" is a story about a little boy who, due to his speech difficulties, struggles with feelings of confusion, frustration, and even isolation, until he is introduced to a fun class called Speech. Fully illustrated with vibrant watercolor pictures, racially diverse characters, and simple to understand wording, it is appropriate for any young child - certainly those who are experiencing speech difficulties, but for others too because it touches on how other children react to those who experience speech problems and opens up discussions on understanding and acceptance.
Author Biography
Lisa Mortensen holds a Masters of Education in Communication Disorders. She has worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 30 years, predominantly in the Maryland public schools. This is her first effort in writing a children's book.
