It also looks at how his chief caregiver, his wife Pat, is dealing with his situation. But this book is much more than their story. It's purpose is to help other patients and caregivers face key challenges that come with this disease. Often an Alzheimer's diagnosis is a devastating blow, resulting in anger, denial, sharp friction, embarrassment and a general feeling of not knowing what to do. These normal reactions, however, need not last long. Among other topics, Mike and Pat tell us how their faith has been such a tremendous support to them, how their relationship has actually grown as of the Alzheimer's, and crucially, how they approach relationships with other people in light of Mike's Alzheimer's. Anyone impacted by Alzheimer's can draw value from this book.
