Based on a general outline of mindfulness and on the core foundations of Buddha's teachings (the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path), a warm heart, serene mind delves into each of the four immeasurable states of mind, which constitute one of Buddhism's major contributions to psychology. These are: Equanimity, understood as the ability to take perspective, from serenity and develop an attitude of non-discrimination; love, as a disposition of appreciation and fundamental appreciation for life; joy, as an affective disposition that is not only a reaction to pleasant external events but an attitude to cultivate; and finally, Compassion, as the trembling of the sensitive heart in the face of the perception of suffering, which joins the courage and wisdom to act to try to alleviate or prevent it.
