David R. Colburn, professor of history at the University of Florida, is the author of From Yellow Dog Democrats to Red State Republicans. Lance deHaven-Smith, professor in the Reubin O'D. Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University, is the author of The Battle for Florida.
