In this third book of the Mac Taylor series, Mac faces an old nemesis, Alex "the Bull" Brisco, who is hell-bent on killing him, along with his former Newark Police partner, now Florida resident, Martin Presler. Now a team again, Taylor and Presler run into several Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers looking to take down a sex trafficker with whom "the Bull" is working. The clock keeps ticking as Brisco rushes to confront and kill the former Newark cops. Meanwhile, Taylor and Presler have plans of their own for the place and time of the killing. It is only time, though, that tells who will be the one-or ones-to pay the ultimate price.
