ABOUT THIS SERIES"Yoga of the West" is an old name scholars gave to Kabbalah and western forms of mysticism as a general classification among certain schools. Given the popularity of such forms of spirituality today it makes sense for a series like this to emphasize the uniformity and universal value of differing cultural spiritual modalities, including religious vogues as seen in the endless vicissitudes of mainstream churches and religions. Many in the west seek mystical release, ecstatic practical spirituality without abandoning their familiar western culture. Esotericism and the western mystery tradition has suffered arguably more liminality than many eastern schools. Whilst alchemy developed in Arabic culture however, and Kabbalah in the Hebrew, Christianity throughout much of its existence has struggled with its own mystical core.
