In this book we survey issues impacting the economic and human development of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). SSA makes up a substantial portion of the continent of Africa. Africa, which covers almost 12 million square miles of territory (22% of the earth's total landmass), is the second largest of the earth's seven continents.
