In this book, the author has brought out the awe-inspiring rise to power of the Second Pandyan Empire, overthrowing the Imperial Cholas who had ruled over them for nearly 340 years. She effectively conveys the ingenious diplomatic and military strategies implemented by the Pandyas during the period 1190-1311 A.D. which was the cornerstone of their efforts that led to the expansion of their territory besides the establishment of a stable and flourishing empire.

Dr. C. Manoranjithamoni is a historian dedicated to the teaching and study of the History of Tamil Nadu through archaeological, epigraphical, and architectural evidence for over 41 years. Her other works include two books titled "History of Tamil Nadu Upto 1565 A.D." and "History of Tamil Nadu from 1529-1801 A.D.", one UGC funded Minor Project titled "An Inscriptive Study of Village Tanks in Virudhunagar District" and one Major Project Titled "Irrigation System of the Pandyas in the Pandyan Country (6th to 16th Century A.D.).
